Paludarium, a small conservatory invented in England in the 19th century, is a plant protection machine that has been later exhibited at the Paris Expo and such. People placed a precious plant shipped from foreign lands inside a glass-walled container, and appreciated watching its growing cycles at different lands and at their home far away from the plant’s own home. The series of “Paludarium” is a result of new interpretation of Paludarium, which is now equipped with various functions and transformed into a contemporary encapsulated environmental system. “Paludarium MASASHI” is the 7th version of this series. This machine has cylindrical and horizontal-shaped body and fully equipped with drip-type 4 water service devices​ that can be operated according to the situation. By operating the mist spraying system, it supplies water to the plants over the whole are from the ​upper edge to maintain ​necessary ​humidity, and it comes with a thorough temperature​ and ​humidity management system as well. ​In addition, it can fully capture the natural light from glasses that surround all sides, and fans are installed on both sides which play a role of wind. A plant can listen to music from the ​fully ​waterproof speakers. It is also equipped with a heater to maintain a constant temperature inside which makes it suitable for the growth of various types of plants. The machine takes in essential elements – mist, wind, light, and sound – by artificial means and completes a small world where its ecological cycle is condensed. It enables us to admire the beauty of the plants by not being affected by the external environment.

パルダリウムと呼ばれる小さな温室は19世紀のイギリスで発明され、その後パリ万博にも出展された植物保管機である。 ガラス張りの容器の中に異国の地から運ばれてくる貴重な植物を入れ、人々はその生育のサイクルをまた別の土地で、遠く離れた自国で観賞するために使用した。 このパルダリウムに新たな解釈を施し、さまざまな機能を装備することで密閉型環境システムとして現代に置き換えた作品がパルダリウムシリーズであり、【パルダリウム学】は本シリーズの第7弾となる。 この装置は横長の筒状の本体を持ち、状況に応じて稼働させる4つのドリップ式の給水装置が完備されている。 全体には上部の端から噴霧システムを稼働させることで植物に必要な湿度を保ち、温湿度管理を徹底的に行える仕組みとなっている。 また保管機本体のガラス面からは余すところなく自然光を取り入れ、両サイドには風の役割を担うファンを設置。 完全防水のスピーカーからは植物に音楽を聴かせることができる。庫内の温度を一定に保つためのヒーターも完備されており、様々な品種の植物の生育に適した仕様となっている。 こうして霧、風、光、音という植物に必要不可欠な要素を人工的に取り入れることで、外部環境に左右されず、我々は植物を愛でることができる。
