ICED FLOWERS took water, an element vital to the lives of flowers, and froze it in order to explore a different approach to displaying flowers attractively. Each arrangement measured 100 × 30 × 90 centimetres, the flowers being frozen slowly using a stream of water, which was adjusted to ensure even coverage. Some flowers freeze beautifully, while others do not, and a work like this requires an intimate understanding of the properties of every bloom. Azuma says he was inspired by a childhood memory of his mother arranging artificial flowers in a water-filled balloon, freezing and displaying it.

ICED FLOWERSは、花をさらに魅力的に表現する方法を探求するため、花にとって不可欠な要素である水を凍らせることで制作された。各アレンジメントの大きさは100×30×90cmで、流れる水の中ででゆっくりと均一に凍るよう調整された。美しく凍る花もあれば、そうでない花もある。東は、子供の頃、母親が水の入った風船に造花を生け、それを凍らせて飾っていた記憶からインスピレーションを受けたという。
