Project

In this project, the work Shiki I was installed in various locations around the world that are usually inhospitable to flowers and plants. The project explored the contrasts that are created when plants are placed in harsh environments, and the photographs throw the opposing elements of life and death into vivid relief. Azuma says, however, that he regrets perhaps not making the maximum use of Shiki I.

このプロジェクトでは、普段は花や植物を寄せ付けない世界のさまざまな場所に「式Ⅰ」という作品を設置した。植物を過酷な環境に置くことで生まれるコントラストを追求したプロジェクトで、写真は生と死という相反する要素を鮮やかに浮き彫りにした。しかし東は、「式Ⅰ」を最大限に活かせなかったかもしれないと悔やんでいる。
