In Bloom #3: SEPHIROTHIC FLOWER: Diving into the Unknown
- In Bloom

- Date:
- August, 2017
- Place:
- Suruga Bay, Shizuoka, Japan

For the third project in the 'In Bloom' series, in which flowers are placed in unnatural situations, Azuma sank bouquets of around 100 different types of flower into the waters of Suruga Bay, Shizuoka Prefecture, at a depth of 1,000 metres. A remotely operated deep-sea exploration vehicle tracked the flowers underwater. Despite the high water pressure, the flowers largely retained their shapes; in fact, being underwater actually emphasized their forms. When brought back to the surface, the flowers had intensified in colour and hardened like plastic.
