Paludarium, a small conservatory invented in England in the 19th century, is a plant protection machine that
has been later exhibited at the Paris Expo and such. People placed a precious plant shipped from colonies
inside a glass-walled container, and appreciated its growing cycles inside their home far away from the plant’s
own home. The series of “Paludarium” is a result of new interpretation of Paludarium, which is now equipped
with various functions and transformed into a contemporary encapsulated environmental system. “Paludarium
TACHIKO” is 4th version of this series.
This machine is fully equipped with a drip feed-water system and a mist machine in order to maintain the
condition of a plant and control inside temperature and humidity. Also it can fully capture the natural light
from glasses that surround all sides, and one can observe a plant into the details through the original flower
loupe hanging in front. Fans on the side glasses play a role of wind, and a plant listen music from the
waterproofed speakers.
The machine takes in essential elements – rain, wind, light and sound – by artificial means and completes a
small world where its ecological cycle is condensed.

密閉型環境実験システム・パルダリウム刀子

パルダリウムと呼ばれる小さな温室は19世紀のイギリスで発明され、その後パリ万博にも出展された植物保管機である。ガラス張りの容器の
中に植民地から運ばれてくる貴重な植物を入れ、人々はその生育のサイクルを異国の地で、または家の中で観賞するために使用した。このパ
ルダリウムに新たな解釈を施し、さまざまな機能を装備することで密閉型環境システムとして現代に置き換えた作品がパルダリウムシリーズ
であり、【パルダリウム刀子】は本シリーズの第４弾となる。
この装置は上部から雨のように降り注ぐ給水システムや、状況に応じて稼働させる噴霧器が完備され、植物に必要な水やりや温湿度管理を徹
底的に行える仕組みとなっている。また四方を囲ったガラス面からは余すところなく自然光を取り入れる一方、植物を細部まで観察できる特
製フラワールーペも搭載。両サイドには風の役割を担うファンを設置し、完全防水のスピーカーからは植物に音楽を聴かせることができる。
こうして雨、風、光、音という植物に必要不可欠な要素を人工的に取り入れることで、外部環境に左右されず、我々は植物を愛でることがで
きる。
