In Bloom, our series of experimental projects in which we arrange flowers in situations beyond nature,
started off with EXOBIOTANICA, when we launched plants to space (the stratosphere). In our second
experiment, DAGAT & BULAKLAK, we floated an enormous bundle of flowers in the middle of the sea,
and our following experiment will challenge the darkness and unknown abyss of the deep seas.
In this experiment, we will send a bouquet of various flowers 2000 meters deep into the Suruga Bay,
Shizuoka Prefecture, and observe using a deep sea remotely operated exploration vehicle.
In contrast to the bright summer daylight at the foot of Mount Fuji, the flowers will be swallowed
slowly into the darkness, where not a single ray of light shines.
Using the advanced marine technology of Japan, the beauty of flowers seen only on
groundsurface will touch the sea floor, the origin of life.
We will document the contrast of the beauty of flowers and the harsh environment of the deep sea, as they
are suddenly taken by the sea current, encounter mysterious sea creatures, and endure the low sound
and high pressure of the sea.
